Hope Marathon: Volunteering in the Name of Terry Fox

“Hope Marathon” is a free-running event in 1981 to commemorate Terry Fox, the Canadian cancer research activist. Since then, the “Hope Marathon” has gradually become the world’s largest fundraising event for cancer research. The Hope Marathon organized by Seneca has received strong support and participation from the local community.

As the volunteers of this marathon, QEA students came to the meeting place early in the morning to cheer for the runners beside the runway. Terry fox said that the charity fundraising of the marathon must be used in cancer research; this is also Terry Fox’s lifetime vision.

Although it’s a marathon, it has become a good idea for bike enthusiasts to join, too. Every participant in the community is using its own way to protect this unique Canadian tradition. We hope that through this activity, students will be able to involve their friends in cancer research and contribute to the world ’s cancer patients!
