Covid 19 Updates (May)

Dear QEA Students, Parents, and Partners,

The Government of Ontario is now providing a more detailed summary of COVID-19 cases in the province that will be updated each day at 10:30 a.m.

The Ontario government is quickly moving forward with innovative research to prevent, detect and treat COVID-19. These projects, part of the government’s $20 million Ontario COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund, focus on areas of research such as vaccine development, diagnostics, drug trials and development, and social sciences. Additionally, Ontario is leading the country with 22 clinical trials investigating COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.

Ontario is finally moving to reopen its economy, as Premier Doug Ford released a long list of workplaces that can reopen on May 19 and some outdoor activities. The new list is “Stage 1” of Ontario’s plan to reopen, and comes after the province has seen a slow but steady reduction in daily new COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks. On Tuesday it announced 258 new cases, its lowest number since late March.

The Ministry of Education has also announced that the 40 Hours of Community Service requirement for our May and June Graduates is waived.

Queen’s Elite Academy strongly encourages students to follow the instruction of parents and guardians. We are confident that our students will remain positive and keep learning on QEA Online. For our May and June graduates, the OSSLT (Literacy Test) and the 40 Hours Community Service are waived for receiving your OSSD.

QEA wishes everyone a positive mentality and a safe environment.

Best regard,

Queen’s Elite Academy
