Terry Fox Volunteers

“Hope Marathon” is a free running event launched by Canadians to commemorate Terry Fox. Since 1981, the marathon has gradually become the world’s largest fundraising event for cancer research. This year’s Hope Marathon organized by Seneca has received strong support and participation from the community.

As the volunteers of this marathon, the students of Queen’s College came to the meeting place early in the morning to cheer for the runners at the nodes beside the runway. The hope was that the charity fundraising of the marathon is to be used in anti-cancer research. This was also Terry Fox’s wishes. According him, the charity in his was not for honor and fame, but to raise such funds instead.

This marathon is also a good idea for bike enthusiasts to join. Every participant in the community used its own way to protect this unique Canadian tradition. This “Hope Marathon” was a complete success! We hope that, through this activity, students will be able to involve their friends in cancer research and contribute to the world ’s cancer patients!
